The two weeks before the Motocross Nationals are some of my favorite. Southern California becomes the hot spot for testing and training for all the top motocross guys. Now with the USGP at Glen Helen it brings some international talent over as well. Every Thursday Glen Helen holds open practice and with the upcoming nationals and USGP the track was packed! A plethora of top pro’s were out including, Marvin Musquinn and Christophe Pourcel. By the way it is incredible to watch those two guys ride practice. A sight I can’t really explain, but watching Marvin drag handlebar going through a turn is something a real fan can appreciate.
I was out at Glen Helen to test with Chris Johnson and Ben Lamay. Chris is getting ready to defend his number 79 plate he earned last year in the lites class. Ben is going to be riding the big bike class. I am excited to have Ben on board, I have been a fan of his for years. Ben got some outside support for Supercross and even filled in for the Motoconcepts Team at the last few rounds. He is from Alaska and grew up racing as a Yamaha amateur. He and Johnson were good friends while racing the amateur ranks. They are now teaming up to take on the Motocross Nationals. Johnson had a crazy start to his WORCS season by switching colors after the first race. Then a little injury at round 2 took him out of the first part of the series. He is back strong now and looking really good on the Lites bike. Look for them to be making some noise this summer as they have a really cool program going on. They will both be riding Flexx Handlebar controlled Yamaha’s! Here is a photo of Ben ripping up one of the corners at Glen Helen.
